Bold signage to let you know we're here

Last month we saw the longest closure of the Recycling operation for some time. We had the gates closed for 10 days, as the local authority couldn’t empty the skips on the yard. This is becoming the norm. Meanwhile on the site we have a shop, with an ever increasing product range which remains open even when the skips are full. There’s no denying though that we sell more when the skips are open.

To make it clearer for customers, we have invested in some new signage. The bigger, bolder sign on the gate makes it clear when the skips are open. We have also taken the opportunity to install more signage on the site to advertise the retail operation. We still have Harris residents coming to us saying they didn’t know we were here! We also now have some security fencing that we are going to use to close off the skips when they are full. This will allow one of the main gates to remain open for easier access to the shop.

We will never be able to compete on price or range with the bigger Stornoway outlets, but we are trying to hold a stock of essentials in Harris to save some the trip. Do let us know if there’s anything you think we should consider stocking. The retail operation was set up in response to calls from the community and continues to be shaped by them.
